2005-2006: Cayce Executive Director's Letter

                                                                        February 4, 2005

Dear Citizens of the Midlands :

Thank you for the opportunity to present to you the Five-Year Plan for the Cayce Housing Authority for 2005-2010.  This particular plan also includes a review of the activities of the Agency’s first Five-Year Plan for 2000-2005 and an annual plan for 2005-2006.  All statutory requirements of the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998 have been included.  Many people have played an important role in its development.  Community input for all our programs has been crucial to this agency’s success.

The Cayce Housing Authority has only 40 public housing units, but it has consistently been rated as a high-performing public housing authority by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  All Resident Satisfaction Scores in the HUD survey in 2004 were satisfactory and above the national average.  During the next five years, the CHA will continue to provide quality affordable housing in Cayce and will attempt to pursue providing more housing, if the opportunity presents itself.

We invite the public to send us your comments and questions concerning the Plan.  Comments may be sent to my attention at the above address.  You are also invited to attend the Public Hearing on April 12, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. at Cayce City Hall , 1800 12th Street .  We look forward to hearing from you.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Gilbert Walker
                                                                        Executive Director
