Extravaganza
O’Neal
Donated $30,000 for 100 Youth to Shop at Finish Line and Wal-Mart
Columbia, S.C. – Indiana Pacers star Jermaine O'Neal has donated $30,000
to Columbia Housing Authority for the Third Annual Jermaine O'Neal Christmas
Extravaganza. On Dec. 10 and 11, CHA
will take 100 youth shopping at Wal-Mart on Forest Drive and Finish Line Athletics
Store in Columbia Place Mall.
As an award for their hard
work and good grades in school, each youth will be given a $100 gift card to
Finish Line and a $200 gift card to Wal-Mart.
Youth range in age and will be divided into two groups of 50 to shop
each day. At 4 p.m., youth will meet
with chaperones at the Cecil Tillis Center, 2111 Simpkins Lane, before leaving to
shop.
"We are so grateful
that Mr. O’Neal has decided to give back to his community in this way for the
third year in a row,” said Gilbert Walker, CHA executive director. “Thanks to his generous donation, 100 CHA
youth will have a Christmas experience like no other.”
CHA manages nearly 1,900
conventional public housing units and administers more than 3,100 rental
assistance contracts throughout Richland County. CHA is the third oldest housing authority in
the nation and has continuously been recognized by HUD for its successful
housing and education programs.
